About Us

The minute I first saw Kazuri beads, I had to touch their irresistible shapes and array of colors.  I knew they were special – I’d never seen anything like them!  I later learned that the name means “small and beautiful” and symbolizes a powerful story of the women who make them.  This work sustains hundreds of families near Nairobi, Kenya, and provides a social and creative outlet that expands to those of us who purchase them to make beautiful jewelry.

I hope that once you get to know the Kazuri story and have a variety of these beads at your fingertips, you will find them as inspiring as I do.  Since that first exposure to Kazuri beads, I have gathered what I believe to be a collection of beads and jewelry components that is as inspiring as it is beautiful.

Kazuri is where it began for me, and it provides a great foundation for the expanded Antelope Beads inventory.

Enjoy our website, and happy beading!
